The app has no accounts and no analytics. Your Zakat figures stay on your phone. To show rates and prayer times it makes a few requests to our server, listed below, and those requests reveal your IP address.

01

What the app stores on your device #

The app keeps a small amount of information on your phone so it works the next time you open it:

  • Your settings: language, light or dark theme, and any Hijri date adjustment.
  • The last approximate location our server worked out for you (city, country, coordinates and time zone), so prayer times still work if the next lookup fails.
  • The list of charities shown on the Donate tab, which is refreshed after 24 hours.

What you enter into the calculator is not saved. A PDF of your breakdown is created only when you ask for one, and you choose where it is saved or who it is shared with.

All of this stays on your phone. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data, removes it.

02

What is sent to our servers #

Our server is hosted on Vercel. The app sends it three kinds of request:

  • A location lookup. The app sends nothing about your location. Like every request on the internet, it carries your IP address, and the server uses that to estimate your city, country, coordinates and time zone. The app uses the answer to choose your currency and to work out prayer times.
  • A request for the list of supported countries and currencies.
  • A request for the latest gold, silver and currency rates. It includes your currency code, for example PKR.

Nothing you enter into the calculator is sent. Your Zakat calculation, your prayer times and the Hijri date are all worked out on your phone.

Our server code does not keep a record of these requests. Its logs note only which country or currency a request was for. Vercel, which runs the server, handles the requests on our behalf.

03

What we do not collect #

  • No account, sign-in, name or email address.
  • No GPS or precise location. The app never asks for location permission.
  • No advertising identifier or device ID.
  • No analytics, crash reporting or advertising. The app contains none of these.
  • None of the figures you enter, or your result.
  • No contacts, photos or other files. The app only writes a PDF to a place you choose, when you ask it to.

04

Third-party services #

  • Vercel hosts our server and receives the requests described above, including your IP address.
  • Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage) supplies the charity list and the charity logos on the Donate tab. Opening that tab sends Google requests that include your country code and, like any internet request, your IP address. They do not include anything you entered into the calculator.
  • Charity websites. Tapping a charity opens its website in your browser, and that site's own privacy policy applies.
  • Your email app. Contact Us in Settings drafts an email in your own email app. Nothing is sent until you send it from there.
  • Google Play and the App Store, when you choose to rate the app.
  • Google, on iPhone only. While the app is open, it checks that your phone is online by sending an empty request to a Google address (clients3.google.com) about once a minute. The request contains nothing you entered and nothing about you, but like any internet request it reveals your IP address, along with the app's name and your phone's software version. On Android the app asks the phone's own system instead, and makes no such request.

05

Changes to this policy #

If the app starts sending or storing anything not listed here, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
